What is Chinese Medicine?

Chinese Medicine is an ancient healing approach that believes that there are as many as 2000 acupuncture points all over the human body.  When these points are accessed with thin needles, the patient's Qi (pronounced "chee") can be manipulated to restore balance and improve health.

The practitioner will look at your tongue and check your pulse then ask some questions designed to help them understand which acupuncture points should be selected for that day.  Then the needles get inserted just under the skin and they stay there for at least 30 minutes, sometimes longer.  The best part is that you usually experience little pain, if any at all.

Acupuncture can help almost any health condition, but it has been studied mostly for its help in relieving pain conditions.  So if you, or anyone you know, has any type of pain condition that seems to illude other practitioners, give acupuncture a try.  The nice thing is that there is rarely side effects that are associated with the chemicals used in "other" therapies.

Occasionally, the acupuncturist might assign a chinese herbal formula for you.  Even though they taste "unique", they are quite helpful in aiding your body to recover from its imbalance.
